Background. The Wetson Restaurant Group was established in 1959, though the family's restaurant heritage goes back to the 1930's.

Tony's Di Napoli was a very successful eastside restaurant featuring some of the finest family-style, Southern Italian cuisine in New York. Porte was invited to help launch Tony's second location — in Times Square.

Actions. Porte focused on Tony's heritage as a family friendly, reasonably priced restaurant that served generous portions of authentic, old-style Southern Italian food. Our effort generated awareness of the new location, both for those New Yorkers familiar with the original Tony's — and those visiting Times Square.

Advertising.Out of home advertising, at individually selected locations, announced Tony's arrival in Times Square. Advertising in hotel-distributed magazines spoke to tourists. At the same time, trade advertising to the tour industry helped generate group business.

Public Relations.Porte generated PR to help launch the new location, arranging dinners for Broadway events, including a dinner/theater event for hotel concierges. Porte provided PR and direct mail for a series of wine tasting dinners. Other PR activities include an article and recipe for Tony's Vodka Rigatoni in The Daily News and publicity for Tony's Di Napoli's "Broadway Wall of Fame," a series of paintings celebrating Broadway stars and supporting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Results. Tony's Di Napoli had a very successful introduction to the Times Square area — and if you have trouble getting a table at lunch, just give us a call.
